How E-commerce Works
by Marshall Brain

This article is a complete overview of how ecommerce works with actually a whole bunch of articles combined into one. I chose to focus on the section of the article that deals with the hype that surrounds ecommerce. Though the numbers in the article are a bit dated they talk about the incredibly overinflated outlook of ecommerce growth. They also look at the insane amounts of advertising and capital spent on these ads. As I took a deeper look at this article and thought more about it, the author could be absolutlely wrong. This article was written in 2005 when ecommerce was just really catching on. I now think about how much myself and my friends buy online, and then I think about my parents, who are both in their late 50's and think about how much they buy online. I makes me believe that ecommerce isn't overhyped at all. It actually could be underhyped. The only thing that could be overhyped about buying online is the deals you get. Yes often time there are more sales online, but you also have to wait for delivery, as well as shipping costs.
